In 1949, Friedrich-Karl Rogge
founded the Odenwald Faserplattenwerk
in Amorbach and started producing
wood fibre
insulation boards. In 1952, the first
wood fibre acoustic ceiling tiles
were produced.The most important date
in the history of the company is 1960,
when, whilst visiting the USA, F-K
Rogges attention was drawn to
tiles manufactured from mineral wool,
a material which made possible the
manufacture of fire-protecting ceilings,
and was to become of decisive importance
in the development of entirely new
ceiling systems. As quickly as one
year later, he secured the relevant
licence and in November 1961, the
first mineral wool ceiling tiles left
the Amorbach factory branded as OWAcoustic®
and which , due to ongoing development,
has become one of the leading ceiling
systems brand names in Europe.

In 1997, a new generation of of mineral
materials came into existence, namely,
white wool, a biodegradable mineral
wool, whose freedom from harmful effects
on health has been certified by the
RAL seal of approval. By virtue of
this development and our entirely
new production techniques, the requirements
of future mineral tile demand supplemented
by metal ceiling systems (OWAtecta®),
and special ceilings from composite
materials (OWAspectra®)) together
with complete suspension systems (OWAconstruct®)
will be fulfilled.
